The Construction Industry Composite Index March 2018 data, which is closely followed by the construction sector, has been confirmed.
HIGH PERFORMANCE IN ACTIVITIES
The activity in the construction materials industry showed a significant growth in March compared to the previous month. In March, the activity index increased by 3.2 percentage points compared to February, as seasonality was increasingly effective in construction activities. And also in March the level of activity rose to 13.6 points in March of last year. The decisive main factor in the high performance expected of the construction activities was the seasonal increase in the demand for construction works.
THE CONFIDENCE INDEX SHOWED A DELIBERATE STANCE
As the construction sector continued to improve its dynamics, non-sectoral risks continued to limit confidence index. The confidence index stagnated in March following a limited increase in December, January and February. Confidence remained deliberate stance despite strong performance in March. The confidence level, which was not changed compared to the previous month, was 4.0 points higher than the confidence level of the same month last year.
EXPECTED INDEX SLOWED DOWN
Prospective limited and gradual recovery continued in March. However, the improvement in expectations varied becuse of the sub-factors. Thus, the expectations index was 10.2 percentage points higher than the same period of the last year. Expectations for Turkey’s economy remained stable in March. The expectations for the construction materials industry also did not change in March.
