TURKSTAT data showed that the rate of increase in rents has passed through housing while the “Falling” debates have been taking place in rent prices recently. When the inflation rate of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) is examined, it is estimated that rent payments in February 2017 increased by 10.2 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Thus the average price level went from 686 to 756. On the other hand, in the first inflation report of this year announced by the Central Bank, it is determined that rents have risen by 9.30 percent in 2016, while in Istanbul it is emphasized that this ratio shows a remarkable increase of 11.4 percent. Although the increase rates on rents exceeded 10 percent, it was found that this ratio remained lower in residential properties for sale. According to TURKSTAT data, house prices, which are among the main spending groups, increased by 7.42 percent in February 2017 compared to the same month of the previous year. This ratio increased by 1.18 percent month on month, according to December of the previous month was 3,03 percent and 12 month average of 6.53 percent increase.
According to the figures, in the main spending group, the weight of food and non-alcoholic beverages was 21.77 percent, followed by transportation with 16.31 percent. Housing, in this group with a share of 14.85 per cent share of consumption came in third place.
