In the first half of the year, there was an increase of 7.6 percent compared to the previous year in the number of buildings granted licenses by municipalities. The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) has announced the "Building Permit Statistics" for January and June of this year.
Accordingly, in the first 6 months of the year, the number of buildings granted by the municipalities was 7.6 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year. In the same period, the total area of the buildings granted building license was 123.8 million square meters. It was calculated as 69.9 million square meters of residence, 26.9 million square meters of non-residential and 26.9 million square meters of common area. Istanbul has the highest share with 24.4 million square meters. Ankara followed Istanbul with 13.5 million square meters and Izmir with 7.2 million square meters. The provinces with the lowest surface area were Muş, Tunceli and Hakkari respectively.These were also identified as the least number of residence.
The area of the buildings with permission certificates increased.In the first half of the year compared to the same period last year, the number of buildings granted by the municipalities to use the permits increased by 1.9 percent and the number of apartments increased by 9 percent.
According to the ownership of the building, the private sector has the largest share with 64.8 million square meters. This was followed by the state sector with 9.3 million square meters and lastly the building cooperatives with 2 million square meters.
