Tourist Invasion to Istanbul

Iranian tourists invaded Istanbul. At Istanbul Atatürk Airport, the occupancy rates increased almost 85 percent due the flights from Tehran, Shiraz, Mashhad, Isfahan and Ahwaz. They came to Istanbul for the Nowruz holiday which is the mark of the New Year for Iranian and for Eastern Countries.

So, Turkish tourist industry gained a number of visitors from Iran. The first Nowruz tourist arrived in Istanbul on March 18 before the Nowruz day. The aim of the visitors were shopping and having a nice holiday in Istanbul. The number of the daily flights between Turkey and Iran is 18. These scheduled flights rose up almost one hundred percent in Nowruz. The weekly scheduled flights are almost 165 between these two countries.

Currently 10 airline companies are carrying out the flights between Iran and Turkey. These are Base Airlines, Meraj Airlines, Mahan Airlines, Qeshm Airlines, Aseman Airlines, ATA Airlines, Zagros Airlines Atlas Global Airlines, Iran Airlines and Turkish Airlines. Iranian tourists invaded Istanbul for the Nowruz holiday.

Tourists who came from Iran especially prefer to see Hagia Sophia and Büyükada in Istanbul as well as other historical and touristic places. Iran has just begun to renew the passenger aircraft fleet. They didn’t make any renovation for many years because of embargo. They ordered 118 airbuses. They will also buy new generation aircrafts from Brazilian Embraer and a French-Italian company ATR for their regional needs.

Iranian tourists invaded Istanbul. There is a doubling demand from Iran compared to the last year statistic. The association of Turkish Travel Agencies prepared a special Istanbul Shopping Fests targeting Iranians who came for Nowruz. There is a general rise in tourist numbers from Iran. There are many factor of this rise such as visa-free travel, the greater availability of flights, health and culture tours, etc.
