Now people's understanding of home is not 'a roof to put our heads under'. Today smart houses are built that can be managed from mobile phones and tablet computers. The world has met with intelligent home systems about 40 years ago. The first smart houses were built at the beginning of the 80's. The demand for a comfortable life has also increased as the houses are wisely minded. Research reveals that in 2020 the European smart home market will reach a size of $ 14 billion. The expected figure for the whole world is 51 billion dollars.

Turkey also seen an increase in smart home project in parallel with the world. The construction sector, which has grown along with urban transformation, attracts attention with investments made in smart houses. Until today, Orge Enerji Elektrik's CEO Nevhan Gündüz, who focuses on electric contracting activities in both real estate and infrastructure projects with more than 3.5 million square meters of space, said that the real estate sector has become an important branch of smart home systems.

"Even with a little touch, the buildings are intelligent, but the right planning must be done," Gunduz said. "First of all, intelligent building should save money and make life difficult. We use 2-3 times more energy by using LED illumination in all our facilities. We also provide energy savings through automation of climate control and lighting, motion detectors. When building green buildings, the cost may seem high, but this rate is 2-3 percent. When the building is over, a 10 percent level of savings can be achieved.

While such green buildings enable the consumer to save money, the investor also saves the materials they use. If the contractors can not give up deming cements, they have no chance of giving up from the intelligent building. Turkey is now a middle income groups began to use smart home. Urban transformation process accelerated it. After 10 years we will see much smarter houses. My forecast is that 30 percent of the houses in metropolitan areas like Istanbul will be smart homes. "
